Home / Inground Pool Installation: 10 Tips for Success
The fiberglass pool construction process can be as easy – or as difficult – as you make it. At Parrot Bay Pools, our profession is relaxation! That said, we never want our customers to struggle when figuring out what type of fiberglass pool to purchase, which water features are the best, or how to prepare a home for a new inground pool installation. If you’re in North Carolina, let us help you get set up for a new fiberglass pool this summer!
Unfortunately, to get a new inground pool installed, you can’t just cross your arms, wiggle your nose, and blink (an, “I Dream of Genie,” reference… too dated?). There are choices you’ll have to make and things to prepare in order to make the inground pool installation process easy and – dare we say it, fun! Check out these 10 tips to make your inground pool installation experience a breeze!
The surrounding area around your pool will undoubtedly add beauty and functionality to the backyard. This is an incredibly important design choice that can cause major hangups in the inground pool installation process.
There are a few things to consider when choosing your inground pool decking such as color, material, and texture.
Once you have purchased your pool, the first thing you should do after decking decisions is make sure you have hired a landscaper to take over once your pool is in the ground. There will inevitably be some gravel and ruts you need graded as well as lots of sod and plantings to do as well as repairing or installing irrigation. If you want to swim and have your project finished quickly this is an integral part of the process that should be handled early on.
Choosing accessories like tile, coping, and water features early on is key to avoiding delays in your pool build and getting the items you want without having to settle. Some of these choices need to be special ordered and early ordering will keep your pool build running smoothly and you happier.
Plan for lounging and dining around the pool. What type of furniture will you need? Do you wish for bar height or regular seating?
Did you know Parrot Bay is a Ledge Lounger dealer? If you need help with furniture decisions, you can schedule a call with our pool contractors to discuss how to best relax around your pool after it’s been installed. Virtual calls can be scheduled once your pool is in the ground.
Or you can stop by our pool design showroom at any time to discuss the type of fiberglass pool you want in your backyard.
All the toys for all the fun! Do you have room for ping pong, a water slide, or outdoor checkers? How many floats can you possibly put in your pool? This is also something to think about when choosing your fiberglass pool size! If you want to fit 15 floating basketball hoops in your pool at once for an Olympic-size tournament, you’re going to need a pool large enough to accommodate the game!
During hurricanes or heavy storms, you also need to think about where you’ll store all of your furniture, cleaning equipment, and toys. Whether that be space in the garage, an outdoor shed, or a closet, you’ll need some type of outdoor storage for your pool. Keep this in mind when planning your fiberglass pool layout size and decking design.
We’re in the business of relaxing. Pools are meant to be fun and help you relax – but the inground pool installation process will be a practice in patience and zen. It will get dirty and things you did not think of may come up.
That said, our team of expert fiberglass pool contractors has seen it all! We know how to handle the wildest and most unexpected scenarios during the inground pool installation process. So, we’ll say it again: don’t sweat the small stuff. We’ve got you covered!
Once you have purchased your pool we will upload into Docs and Files the pool code fence requirements for the state of NC in your project. Please refer to those and discuss them with your fence contractor. Most reputable fence companies are very familiar with pool code and can direct you.
Learning about your pool equipment is super important to finding your zen around your new pool. We upload manuals for your equipment in your docs and files section within your project. Please download and print your manuals if you feel it necessary. If you don’t know how to work everything or can’t get your chemicals right it can be stressful. Never fear! We offer Pool School as a free service to fabulous clients after their pool is installed. We recommend you take LOTS of notes or video Pool School for future reference. We also have helpful Youtube videos on our Parrot Bay Pools Youtube channel.
You wouldn’t want to spend all this time, effort, and money on an inground pool… just for it to turn green! That said, once your pool is installed and equipment is running, you’ll have to keep the water clean! While our pool contractors only install pools, learning how to maintain a fiberglass pool is incredibly easy – it’s why we only install fiberglass pools!
